Strollin'
Before the Big Walk
Originally uploaded by joechays. The nurse thought it important that Sophia take her little brother for a stroll today. So we made it happen. It's quite an effort for a five minute stroll up and down the hall but Sophia was proud. She kept telling the nurses, "I take Iwa for a walk." She did not let go of the side of that stroller.
Taking a stroll

Ira is on the CPAP most of the day. We cut back on the weaning. (Or should I say, "we are weaning the weaning"?) We realized he was working too hard on the nasal cannula and so he's back to spending most of his day on the CPAP. He's still spotty on his bottle feedings, sometimes taking the bottle but most of the time not.

I will be glad to report to Ira that the Yankees took the four game series from Boston - winning three of four - in spite of the Yankees having a horrific pitching staff.

Laura and I will probably sneak away one evening while we still have my mom in town and go see a movie or something like that.
Any suggestions?

Great pics, man. :) Glad you guys got to take the little guy around for a little walk.
As far as movies go, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory looks cool, but I haven't seen it so I can't give a definitive yay or nay. But it might be a fun, colorful distraction kind of movie. :)
A picture is worth a thousand words, and it did my heart good to see Ira in his stroller and Sophia helping. Praise God for the nurse who had such a wonderful sensitivity and a great idea!
Though I haven't posted for a long time, I do keep checking in and taking you all to the Father. We pray wisdom and solutions for your upcoming decisions.
No suggestions about the movie...we have an almost 3 year old and upcoming 2 year old...the best we can boast of is The Heffalump movie.
May God use your time away to refresh and reconnect you and Laura!

I would skip the movie...Mr. and Mrs. Smith...for now. It's just strange that a husband and wife wouldn't know each other well enough to know what each other does for a living...and it is even weirder (or at least unsettling) to watch them try to destroy eachother once they find out.

It's awesome how you have impacted my life. I used to really despise the Yankees, maybe its because of all those wins... but now, everytime I hear the mention of them it makes me smile to know thats your team.
Movies: Here's my list of ones I've seen and would see again. I like Batman, cheesy, but still cool with the new Batmobile. The Longest Yard was good. At least I thought so. Even if half the movie was a football game. I still left the theatre not regretting the $35 we spent. Or ... there's always Madagascar.
As for what I want to see: Cinderalla Man & Kicking/Screaming.

Wedding Crashers. Oh my gosh--so hilarious (definitely 8th grade boy humour, but still hilarious.)
Okay, movies; finally something I can talk about intelligently.
Wedding Crashers is very raunchy humor so don't be all bothered and demand your money back b/c you've been forwarned. (notice I did not comment whether I enjoyed it.)
War of the Worlds was good for me but Beau had his complaints. I thought they handled it well -- not too sci-fi which I don't like, and it had a good story line about family.
Batman Returns was interesting -- answering questions such as "where did that bat cave come from?" and other pressing curiosities. Beau and I both enjoyed it. Katie Holmes' acting is mediocre.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith is good. Some good dry humor and not very sensual as the previews played it up to be.
Went to see Chocolate Factory yesterday. Went to see how wierd Willy really was and.....he was pretty darn wierd. Went with the right attitude, laughed, it made me smile. I enjoyed it.
It is so good to see pictures of Sophia and Ira. Ira looks so perfectly perfect....still praying for the healing of his insides.
Love you guys and Joe, I know I still owe you an England update. I'm looking forward to giving it to you.
Love,
Brenda
You don't know me, but I'm on a stitching list with Anne Egleston and she linked to your blog.
I have only had a chance to skim your entries so far, but I felt a need to send you a comment.
My son was born in January 2004 at 27 weeks. Of course, his problems were nothing like Ira's and hopefully he will grow out of them all. But your pictures struck such a chord with me - tiny babies in incubators covered in tubes, CPAP (Marcus was on CPAP and then some milder breathing assistance for most of the 10 1/2 weeks he was in hospital), grandmothers hugging a beautiful baby still connected to the machines by all those wires.
Since Marcus was born I have felt a (probably silly) affinity with all familes having to love their beautiful babies around the wires and breathing tubes. So I wanted to say hello and send you my best wishes and a prayer for your whole family.
I'll be continuing to watch your blog.

Looks like War of the Worlds is winning! You can find my casual review of it on my blog...
The pictures are incredible! I am so happy that Sophia was able to take Ira on a stroll. That must have made her day.
As far as movies go...
Fantastic 4 was pretty good.

We have not seen War of the Worlds, but I have heard it is good.
Whatever, you decide to see. Enjoy! I am so happy that Glo is there with you. You are blessed with such a wonderful family.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Okay, this is in reply to the movie question...March of the Penguins is just the ticket, preferably in a large screen theater. I loved it and think you would, too. (You're already living War of the Worlds...no need to see it on screen!)
