We didn't think the news could get any worse. It did.

We visited an OBGYN (not our regular as she had a family crisis) today at Children's Hospital. This OB went over the results of all the testing we did a week ago. Not only is baby Ira dealing with a CDH but he is also dealing with some kind of malformation in the right side of his chest. They are unsure what the mass is in the right side (liver perhaps or a mass of lung) but it crowds the chest area even more giving the lungs little chance to develop. The OB was dumbfounded and said something like, "it's rare to have a CDH but this baby also has this malformation on the right side...that's just unlucky." Of course she said that in much nicer language but even she was shocked at this development. To say the least, she didn't seem too confident in baby Ira's chances.

We're sad. And tired. And overwhelmed. It's hard to hold on to hope...

Romans 15:13 - May the God of hope will you with joy and peace in believing you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Ps. 39:7 - And now Lord, what wait I for? My hope is in you.

Joshua 1:9 - Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be dismayed for the Lord God is with you wherever you go.

Joe and Laura, God is with you. He will never leave you or forsake you. We love you and trust in the Lord,

if money could buy positive news, i would take out a small house loan for your family. this would look like the time to give up, but it seems like Ira is still fighting and not wanting to give up. The average person would have quit by now thinking it's just not worth it. Ira, however, is becoming much more than your average person. What is he fighting for? Is it worth it? I believe Ira is fighting for the chance to know and love those who created him.It means so much to him that he is willing to endure anything if it means he can make that chance a reality.

How much do we need the spirit of Ira in our lives? To be willing to endure anything for those we love. To hold on to the smallest thread of hope. To press on not knowing what lies ahead. So if Ira isn't giving up, then what right do we have to give up?

Grace and Peace to your family

Chris

Joe, Laura, Sophia, and Ira,

We are praying for a miracle. We are praying for the moment the doctors are stunned and have no explanation for the healing of Ira (although we know the explanation). Most of all we are praying at this emotionally, physically, and spiritually stressful time not to put limitations on our God. He is so much bigger than we sometimes see Him in times such as these. Remember that He LOVES You. We love you.

You don't know me, but I have heard wonderful things about you from various people in ministry. I stumbled upon your blog this afternoon and was saddened to read this most recent post. I just wanted to let you know that my wife and I will be praying for you and your family. Blessings.
