I'm home from a long day at the hospital. Ira did well for most of the day. This evening was hard. His stats kept falling and the nurses and docs were confused. They x-rayed to see if fluid had accumulated in his chest and played around with the ventilator. It was a hard three hours this evening as they worked and worked to stabilize Ira. There was fluid in his chest but not enough to warrant any action. They finally turned the pressure up on the ventilator and that helped stabilize Ira. As always it was hard to leave tonight. It was a reality check that we are not "out of the woods" just yet.

Joe and Laura, you and your precious family will remain constantly in our prayers. I still pray fervently for Dr. Stolar and all the others who are attending to Ira--we're just in awe down here in Texas by what all they have done so far for him. We give God the praise and know that He has blessed them with such incredible abilities. Just wish so much, as so many have expressed to you already, that there was something we could do here to help you get through all this. And I can't express enough the love I feel for all those who have surrounded you with their love and care in New York. To those people I just want to say an immense thank you for taking care of this precious family of Ira, his grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins. Your love and Joe's thoughts about NICU ministries have been a spark already for many of us who cannot be there to assist in a personal way. God bless you all. God bless Joe, Laura and Sophia, and God bless Ira. Aunt Jackie

Joe and Laura,
Thank you so much for the updates. The links you put in one of the recent ones were so helpful - to be able to learn more about the ECMO and all these medical terms that probably seem "normal" to you by now. We continue to pray for Ira to continue the forward momentum in his healing process - we are so encouraged to hear how he's doing so far! We believe by faith that he'll be "out of the woods" very very soon. It has been such a joy to pray. We love you!

Joe and Laura, You don't know me but I have been following Baby Ira's progress on the First Colony C of C prayer list. I am the grandmother of twins that were born healthy but spent 6 and 8 weeks in the NICU and understand the bonding you are experiencing with the other parents. I am walking in the March of Dimes Walk America tomorrow and I will be prayerful about Ira as I walk. God has transformed me this past year for me to be able to do this walk and raise money for this fine organization. God Bless Vickie
