Bush and Me
So George W and I have something in common.
A week ago today, W, while speaking to Tony Blair, used a cuss word to emphasize his true feelings on the state of things in the Middle East. It's not the first time Bush has been caught using foul language. If Bush had a blog and defended his timely use of cuss words on the blog, would he generate 60plus comments? With the world in the shape it's in, Bush should be cussing a lot more!
The article linked notes that the reaction to Bush's dropping of the s-bomb has been fairly mild. It goes on to say that if the president were a Democrat, the reaction would be much more severe. Agree? Disagree?

Yes the shoulder massage thing was WAY out of line. She should be respected and treated like her male counterparts. I can't see him doing that to Blair or Putin.
I think if the comments had been made by a Democratic politician under the exact same circumstances then the reaction would be the same. Although it would have been interpreted differently.
For Bush supporters the words he used further illustrates Bush's willingness to "call it like he sees it." No snooty, complicated, or elitist diplomatic speak. Just calling it like it is.
For Bush detractors I sense they want to highlight the use of the word "shit" as evidence of a phony Christian righteousness. However that's a weak argument because we all know faithful, believing, and committed Christians swear...right? So instead they turn to his manners. The fact that he was eating a buttered roll, chewing with his mouth open, and treating Tony Blair like a guy who didn't get a seat at the cool table is what they highlight.
Personally I support our President, in his use of foul language to describe the mutual destruction and killing of innocents in a cross boarder war started by terrorists who are funded by rogue states. And further more I would like to echo John Stewart's sentiments when he said, "At least he was on topic people!"
Totally agree that Democrats would have been a whole lot more relaxed about it all and laughed it off. I wrote a blog about this last week. I cannot even think of a better word to describe the state our world is in right now. You think you will get another 60 comments?!
I found your blog while searching blogspot for CDH info. My daughter, Sofia, was born April 18, 2006 with LCDH. I brought her home on June 8, 2006. She is doing great. We had to put her on a nebulizer 2 weeks ago, but is doing great. You can visit our blog at www.sofia06.blogspot.com. There are links there to many other CDH babies, too. I am interested in info on the Ira wrist bands and how you had the done. Please let me know. My email is catarina2482@yahoo.com.
Thanks,
Catherine
