Forgot to mention that we got the official go-ahead from the docs to take Ira off the vent. The doc wrote out a plan and currently we are up to two hours off at a time. Ira then goes back on for two hours, then two hours off... Ira's doing great. He can't stand the heat/humidity while off the vent so we're keeping him indoors during those two hours when he's off. He loves, LOVES, being off the vent. He goes and goes and doesn't stop!

The reading at the neighborhood garden went well last night. I read Punk Farm and Gruffalo. Our kids love these books and I can act pretty silly when reading them. I think they went over well but I'm not so sure some of the kids were used to having such animated readings. I am my mother's son. :)

C'mon, you gotta be rooting for A-Rod now, right? He's about the only player who has a chance at supplanting Bonds of his soon to be home run record. Surely you don't want Bonds to hold on to that record, do you? So c'mon everyone, let's give A-Rod (and the Yanks) a big 'ol cheer!

OK, OK. A-Rod for MVP, and maybe even a Gold Glove at 3B. Again, great individual offensive numbers so far, with a blazing performance in (ahem) April. The big difference this year is that he has his head in the game defensively.

Joe, he needs to stop thinking about #500 and concentrate on the little things while his TEAM gains ground on the leaders. You know, move the runners over, slap the single to right-center, steal a base without looking like a dork, etc.

Hate to say it, but the R-d S-x made some decent deals . . .

This is awesome news. The wheening is going to go fast and before you know it, no vent, no trach. Ira is a strong determined little man. Hold on to your hats because he is going to take off like a rocket. You and Laura did and are doing an amazing job!!! Thank god Ira has you both for parents and of course the brilliant sofia for a sister.

Why does Ira being off the vent just feel so right and what we knew would happen all along? I just felt it in my bones from the very beginning. Yay for our little man!!! I can't wait to hear you speak!

When Barry hits 755, A-Rod will double his fan base.

Great news about Ira. Praise God.

Joe,

Yeah, go A-Rod! While I'm not a Yankees fan, but I'm much less a fan of Bonds.

I watched a wonderful documentary on HBO about the Brooklyn Dodgers a few days back. Hope if you haven't seen it, you get to see it sometime.
