Many of you don't understand why I'm an advocate for gender justice in the church. Here is a link to a short but powerful sermon given by a Baptist minister who explains why it is important that we ordain women just as we do men. I ask that on this Sunday you give this sermon some consideration.

A good sermon. I appreciate people who can acknowledge the diversity in Scripture and wrestle the resulting tensions. The image of Galatians 3.27-29 as a 'tie-breaker' makes me smile. I find it easy to agree, unfortunately the sermon strikes me as one that will be more persuasive with people who already share its conclusions. I think the biggest shift for people who reject ordination for women and gender justice is the hermeneutical shift that permits the possibility of the Bible being 'in a tie with itself'. It's much preferable that the Bible speak with without equivocation, even with a crushing uniformity. The preacher shows this is not the case, but I wonder who will have ears to hear?

Thanks for sharing. Praying for Laura, Ira, and the Brooklyn Church

I am what you might call secular, though I feel very deeply spiritual. My connection to 'god', like yours I am sure, is hard to explain but is best expressed when I am in nature after a rain, when the air and my body and mind are as clear of impurities as possible.

And so it is that I find this sort of argument and disagreement so very worldly and such a grand waste of time.

If I might, I would tell so many to focus their energies and time and efforts towards their fellow man and their natural environment... it and we need a lot of help right now. These petty bones of contention are but distractions from the truth that my god is offering me.
