Sat, Apr 30

Sat., Apr. 30

Our Saturday began with Ira wide-eyed and stable. Our Saturday ended with Ira being sedated and unstable. The ventilator was being fully used (100%) by the end of Saturday evening and nitric oxide was added to the mix in order to help him breath easier. Even still they were having a hard time stabilizing him. You can see in the picture that they tied Ira's left arm down in order to stop him from knocking tubes around and by the end of Saturday they had a weight-vest on his right arm. I'm anxious for Monday to hear from his doctors about what all this means. It could be that this is the norm but Laura and I are pretty nervous.

Sounds as if you have a really active little Ira. You will have your hands full when he starts walking! There will be some good days, and some not as good for a while, I bet. Ira has certainly shown he's a strong baby, and with that, and God's healing hand on him, he'll be able to pull out of these times. Hang in there - keep your faith in God's healing power & Ira's determination to come through yet another struggle. You know God's in control. There will be more miracles to come - if needed! Keep the faith.
Wish I could be there to give all of you a big hug. Give Sophia a great big hug & kiss for me! Love you! Weedon

It is late on Saturday night and Mike and I are just now getting today's update...We can't help but to think of how courageous little Ira has been and continues to be...We were so impressed when we read that they are having to make his arm be still because it just proves that you really can't keep a good man down. Thank you for sharing the picture of Ira with all of us. We think that he is very, very handsome. You may have to keep a close eye on him with babies Ava and Lily so close by...We love you and pray that God continues to bless Ira with more and more days of victory. the Roy's

Joe and Laura,

Are you familar with the contemporary Christian singer Mark Schultz? Today, as I prayed for Ira, I remembered this song. It is on Mark's debut album. I'm sending it to you. In the meantime, here are the lyrics. Continued prayers from Fort Worth, ~Stacy Kocur

He’s My Son
Words and Music by Mark Schultz
From the recording: Mark Schultz, Track #3.

I'm down on my knees again tonight,
I'm hopin' this prayer will turn out right.
See, there is a boy that needs Your help.
I've done all that I can do myself
His mother is tired,
I'm sure You can understand.
Each night as he sleeps
She goes in to hold his hand,
And she tries
Not to cry
As the tears fill her eyes.

Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place some how.
See, he's not just anyone, he's my son.

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep,
I dream of the boy he'd like to be.
I try to be strong and see him through,
But God, who he needs right now is You.
Let him grow old,
Live life without this fear.
What would I be
Living without him here?
He's so tired,
And he's scared
Let him know that You're there.

Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place some how.
See, he's not just anyone, he's my son.

Can You hear me?
Can You see him?
Please don't leave him,
He's my son.

Dear Joe, Laura, Sophia and Ira...
Our daily prayers are being lifted for your family. God is faithful and it is so evident you believe that. Though different circumstances, we experienced life with an extremely sick child and some days, we just thought we couldn't make any longer. Then we would feel the gentle arms of Jesus wrap around us and were reminded that He was carrying all of us. May you feel the blessings of peace and rest. We will continue to pray for you and for the doctors and staff who are caring for Ira. They are true heroes!
In Him...Roy and Mindy Tyndall

We are still praying and praying. As Elijah is about to be 1 year old in 2 weeks, I am reminded of my feelings of helplessness when he was in the NICU. When I pray for Ira, I take myself back to that lonely, scared and confused place and let myself feel those feelings again so that God might show me what to pray for you, Joe and Laura. It is so hard going to the NICU and scrubbing in every day just to see your baby - I pray for strength and perseverance for you. I had a vision of Ira the other day that he was about 6-7 years old and was playing with some friends - he was showing off his surgery scars and telling his friends how he almost died but how so many people prayed for him and he made it. Every day I pray that he will grow into a strong little boy. We love you!

Sweet precious friends,
As I was rocking Ellie tonight, we prayed out loud for baby Ira. Our prayer was for Ellie and Ira to be able to one day smile, laugh, play, and love life together. Our other continuous prayers have been for Ira's life to be full...free from pain and suffering. We also pray that he will be strong and healthy in every way. We will pray that prayer again tonight. God is listening.
We love you more than words can express...we hope you feel God's presence through these and all the other prayers being lifted up. J,A,and E
