Click this link for a great story about two CDH babies in Boston. It might help you understand CDHs a bit more and it's a feel good story. By now, don't we all need a little feel good in our lives?

We're back to the waiting game. Whereas there was a lot of action the first week of Ira's birth we are now at a point of just waiting to see how these medicines work. Therefore, there isn't much to report. Thanks for your prayers.

Some of you know that I had a friend from Houston come up and spend a few days with the Hays/Heintz family during Ira's birth. It was a great thing to have him around. My friend returned home to Houston and a few days later his sister gave birth to a baby boy, Noah. It was decided quickly that something wasn't right with Noah and they weren't sure Noah would make it. (You might have read Noah's mom's comments on yesterday's post.) Check out their blog and when you pray for Ira, lift Noah up too.

Joe,

Thanks for sharing with us the information about your friend's family and the struggle they are going through with Baby Noah. You continue to minister to us, and we are blessed knowing how faithful you and Laura continue to be when answers and information don't seem to be coming very often. Your "extended" family down here in Texas remains in awe of your steadfast love and faith in our Lord and Savior who "will deliver" when asked, and who loves you with all His heart, and is the only One who can provide you some level of peace throughout this storm you are going through. Joe, give Laura and Sophia and Baby Ira our deepest love and affection. We only wish we could be there to look you in the eyes, grasp your hand, hug your tired bodies, and tell you, once again, how much we truly love you and share the pain of what you must be going through. Hang in there, nephew, cousin, grandson....

We looked at the Whaley's website and are praying for baby Noah. It's amazing how similar our stories are - how they were expecting a healthy baby too and then he stopped breathing. I left them a message on their blog. Joe, Laura, Sophia and Ira - you are in our thoughts and prayers all day, every day. Keep fighting, Ira - you are doing a GREAT job! :-) I am saying a prayer of strength for all of you to keep going - I know it's so hard to go up there day in and day out. We love you!

We are praying for you and Ira each day. And, now we are praying for little Noah. (I went to ACU with Julie and Ethan). May God give you and Ira strength.

Amazing story of these two little ones! A comment from yesterday's news to Laura - Laura, you are a wonderful and beautiful woman of God and He is ministering through you in a powerful way right now. Just keep remembering that he is holding you in His arms, and that our loving Jesus is there at the hospital with Ira every day holding him and touching him for you. He will not forsake you. Love, Kaki

Dear Joe and Laura,

I have been wanting to leave a comment for several days as thoughts and words are crashing around in my head...

I think of you all so often... and check your blog several times a day. Being 5 mouths post partum and hyper emotional I have shed more than a few tears with you. I was so touched my what you wrote, Laura. Yesterday, as I was walking a screaming and tired Bryce around his room I was a wee bit frustrated and tired. Then I remembered... And the across the miles you two ministered to me. I remembered that you would give anything to hear Ira scream, to have your arms ache as you held his 20 pounds against your chest, to feel his heart beat against your chest and to be filled with his sweet scent. I thanked the Lord for this perspective and I cried out to the Lord that you would soon experience this delight with your son.

I'm not sure why but the Lord has laid it on my heart to tell you this-
Man and Woman of God, the world is watching to see how a Christian handles the most painful of trials. He has counted you worthy to suffer and suffer greatly for His Namesake. You have no idea the far reaching effects you are having on people all over the world. You both are in the ministry of planting churches and yet this may just be your greatest ministry yet...

Continuing to cry out with you,
Brielle Gage

Joe and Laura... I know of your story because my parents ( the callicott's) attend first colony in houston. I check this blog often hoping and praying for amazing news that God has healed ira completely. My heart aches for you as a mother can relate. I know you want the perfect dream of taking him home and having those two kids with you sleeping sweetly in their beds without tubes and nurses. I pray that God makes this possible very very soon. I think God is very pleased with the way your faith shines at this time. Just wanted to let you know that someone else is praying for Ira often. He is beautiful. In HIm, Ann C
