If Ira could speak, he would say...

My Daddy is the best Daddy in the whole world. He holds me so gently and knows just how to pat my chest to calm me down. He is always ready to share the Yankee scores from the night before (Jeter hit his first grandslam!) and tell me how much he loves me. Even though I have stuff all across my face, my Daddy can still find places to give me lots of kisses. He just loves to give me kisses. My Daddy has been by my bed every day of my life. He makes sure my mobile has batteries and that my nurse is on top of my oxygen. Plus, he is the best swaddle-er ever (sometimes I fling my arms and grab my CPAP - not good!) One of my favorite things my Daddy does is sing to me. He is always singing this song about how much Jesus loves me. He says Jesus loves me even more than he does. Wow, I am one lucky 8 week old. I love you Daddy.

And I'm sure he'd say the same about his amazing mommy, and sister, and grandparents, and all his extended family both physical and spiritual. We all love you, too, and wish Joe C. a happy and blessed Father's Day!

Joe, Happy Father's Day! You are richly blessed with two beautiful, precious children, and a very special wife and mother to these children. I can't wait to see how well Ira is doing Father's Day, 2006. I bet he's running around everywhere, & Mommy & Daddy are saying, "No, No, Ira - put that down!" "Ira, quit bothering Sophia..." He will do great with these new learning experiences. He just keeps on keeping on.
Hope you have a great Father's Day, and all goes well with Ira in the coming days with PT and nippling. Still praying for all of you.
Lots of love,
Weedon

Joe, you've been an outstanding model of a Christian father to all of us. Keep the faith, kiss the wife and kids, and get some rest!

Happy Fathers Day,
Lane

Joe Clyde,
You are an awesome Daddy to Sophia and Ira. I have seen your strength, tenderness, and love for your precious children. You came by that rightfully! Your Dad set a wonderful example for you and, more recently, you have learned about being a wonderful dad from Harvey, also! Keep up the good work. Happy Father's Day.
Love,
Mom

Happy Father's Day Joe. With me sending Laura and Sophia "Friday gifts" I feel like I neglect you. Just know I am thinking of you and praying for you as well. You are a great husband and daddy. I hope your day is a special one.

Joe,
Happy Father's Day! Your love for Sophia and Ira is so evident, and you take such good care of them and of Laura. May God fill your day with moments of grace and peace and joy as you continue to wait on Him and on His complete healing of Ira.

We love you,

Hey, Joe, I called this afternoon to wish you Happy Dad's Day and guess what: you were at the hospital with Ira. I wanted especially to tell you that today is Juneteenth, the celebration and commemoration of the end of slavery for the African-Americans in Galveston, Texas, who received news of the Emancipation Proclamation a full two-and-a-half years after Lincoln signed it. (The messengers faced a little hostility getting down there, I suppose.) The first person to ever tell me about this holiday, with no small amount of wonder in his voice, was Granddaddy (Ira) Lambert.

Joe,
Hope your Father's Day was special. Give everyone "hugs and kisses" from uncles, aunts, cousins, and a Grandmother who was married to Ira's namesake and who reads every blog posting, and prays without ceasing for you, Laura, Sophia, and Baby Ira. We all are!

Happy Father's Day, and yes, even Jeter connects (probably with his eyes shut!) occasionally.
