All this space is mine

All this space is mine

We have a Lab Retriever named Jersey. (We got Jersey as a pup while finishing up our grad school degrees in New Jersey.) The pic above is of Jersey at our local dog-run which is at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge. He loves the dog-run because he gets to be off his leash and on his own. It's a huge space that he loves to explore. But most of all, he loves to do what he does best, retrieve. He'll do it over and over again until I finally get tired of throwing the tennis ball.

But poor Jersey has gotten the shaft since Ira's birth. He's lucky that we even remember to take him out to pee and poop. Please, don't call PETA on us or your local rescue clinics because we're still resposible but I gotta admit, I do feel guilty that he's not getting the attention he's used to getting.

I can't wait for Ira to meet Jersey. I think they will do well together.

We had quite a "trip" with integrating our pets and our babies, so I think I can relate to the guilty feelings! Our pets still have a pretty restricted life--they were our babies before our babies, and have not appreciated the persistant attention from out little ones. It sounds like Jersey gets a blue ribbon for accepting his new family.

I mean this seriously...we feel we have truly experienced God being God of all creation, as He has reached down and helped our fur-kids adjust and cope. Though we have had to restrict and monitor them for safety reasons, it is amazing---they have gone from spoiled pooches to ones willing to wait patiently for our attention. Though we feel guilty, they seem content! All that to say, perhaps the angels have whispered in Jersey's ear as well, and he too is patiently and loyally waiting until Ira comes home.

Hang in there,
Beverly (Abilene)

I keep up with these Ira updates daily and remember him and your family in my prayers. I thank you for keeping us all posted and so we know what he is going through and how to pray for his situation. I am amazed at his strength through all this. I heard about you through my brother and his wife... Rob and Lisa C. I like your thoughts on all the other non-ira related issues as well, although, my main concern is Ira. I am touched by your thoughts on infertile couples.. as that's what I was once, before I adopted two children as newborns. I thank God for them and the ladies that gave such an incredible gift to me. I have enjoyed the show you talked about... 30 days. Fascinating looks into some unusual situations. I wouldn't have taken up the offer on any of those ! I wouldn't have known about that show if it wasn't for you mentioning it. And meant to give movie advice too a week or so ago when you asked for some. But I bet you've seen something good since then. If you get a chance, march of the penguins is very interesting. But not a traditional movie as I'm sure you know. penguin parents have such agony to go through though, I'll say that much. I thought of your story when watching that movie, those penguins standing together in a big lump trying to stay warm and keep their little egg from freezing, and the wind was blowing and it's like 80 below without a windchill figured in...get the picture. I just pray for your families continued strength and wisdom on knowing how to handle the changes that come each day. I pray for more happy moments for Ira, and fewer moments of crying. He is a doll. I bet the nurses are in love with him. His big sister is a cutie pie as well. I haven't posted much, but did want to let you know that I do think of you all daily and am on your team going to God with requests for Ira. I hope this week is a better one. Ann
