RANDOM NEWS AND NOTES:

Sophia woke up at 4:45 a.m. this morning raring to go and singing the Barney theme song. Does anyone know a hitman who could take out Barney for me? Ugh!
--------------
I've been working out three/four times a week since January. I took several weeks off during Ira's birth but quickly got back on track. And the only thing I've got to show for all this work is that I can finally touch my toes...as of this week...with a slight bend in my knees. I'm getting old.
--------------
My family is gathering in Tahoka for the 4th. That may sound like a drag to spend your 4th in west Texas but you would be mistaken. My mom's and dad's backyard is an oasis in the middle of all the west Texas cotton fields. I'll miss jumping off the roof of the house into the pool, late night hottub dips and millions of cable channels to choose from. Have fun fam!
--------------
Friends from Ft. Worth will spend time with us this weekend. Jake, Abbie and their daughter Ellie will hang out with us and help us manage our life with Ira. We'll take in the fireworks off the Brooklyn Promenade and Jake and I will attend a Yankee game. Other than that, we'll just be managing our schedule with Ira. We can't wait to see them.

So what are your plans for the 4th?

Joe and Laura,
I was a blog behind so this comment is about God pushing us. Remember Chronicles of Narnia when someone asked if Aslan was safe? Oh, no!!!, was the reply.

The movie for the first book of Narnia is out December 9th.

Fireworks and Brooklyn, great combination. The boys will be at the ranch with family and I don't know exactly what I'm doing -- but I'm looking forward to it.

If I get up in the middle of the night I often check your blog. It's been important to me. It is not unusual for me to check it 2 or 3 times a day and I'm always hacked if you haven't posted!!! (It is all about me.)(No pressure.)

Love,
Brenda

I think there's a scene in Nine Months where they beat up a Barney look-alike. It may help just to watch it. Sorry to hear you're missing your family. Chuck and I are flying to TX tonight. I haven't seen my parents in 1.5 years, so I'm really looking forward to it. I'm not looking forward to the heat, though ugh. Enjoy the fireworks!

The Tipton's are staying home this 4th of July. Tyler is actually in Birmingham on a Mission Trip until late afternoon of the 4th. We are having some friends over for hamburgers and then go watch fireworks. We will miss going to Kansas to be with family also. Love you guys and we continually pray for all of you.

Brandon, I meant to say, "I'll miss watching my high school buddy, Brandon, jump off the roof while I stand innocently by!" I got a kick out of your comment.

Did you know it has become a tradition for me to jump off the roof every summer? And every time, mom comes running out as if she is going to spank me. This will be my first summer to miss out on the whole scene.

Joe, I just wanted to write and tell you that I've been keeping up with what's been going on. I apologize for not writing earlier. I've been waiting on something inspirational to hit me so I could say something comforting or meaninful, as a result I haven't said anything at all. My family's prayers and best wishes go out to you. I don't know if you've heard or not, but we now live in town. I still farm and am a firefighter for Lubbock (almost three years now). Melissa graduated from Tech in December. She has been hired to teach first grade in Tahoka starting in August. Skyler is going into seventh grade and Blake is going to be in third (man do I feel old). That just about updates you on what's going on with us. I will continue to read your blogs everyday and hope and pray for good news. May God bless you and your family. And about jumping off of the roof I can neither confirm or deny that ever happening. Your Friend Aaron

Joe, did Lance and I get excommunicated from the family or what? We're not going to be in Tahoka on the 4th, so you're not alone in your alone-ness! We'll be here, mowing or scrubbing or painting or some such. Or maybe we'll just watch DVDs. There is, I understand, a fireworks display on the town square in Lawrenceville, so perhaps we'll wander that way around sundown.

Missing you guys, and the rest of the family, too.

peace -- Kate

Hey, I just want to say that I'm feeling the burden of representing "the family" gathering in Tahoka... So today I stayed in my pajamas half the day, swam the other half, jumped off the roof twice, bought two pay per view movies (neither of which was very good), and sulked in my room for at least an hour and a half because of something somebody said that actually had no malicious intent behind it. I pretended I did not remember how to vacuum the pool, and when Dad asked me to help with the yard I said that the baby had a dirty diaper and went inside. I haven't been to the Dixie Dog or Thriftway or Lubbock yet, so tomorrow will be another busy day. This place is just not the same without all of us, that's for sure.

love,
Jackie

Enjoy the Fireworks, and it's gearing up to be a great weekend for Yankee stadium. As you noted a couple of days ago Mariano is on fire against any team not located in Boston (ERA approaching 6 against our beloved hometown heroes).

Still, we wish you all the best and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

All the best...

Dan, ARGH!

For those of you who don't know Dan he was a friend of mine who I got to know in the NICU. You might remember me talking about Ira's first roommate, Baby Ava. Ava had a CDH and is now at home doing well.

And so is Papa Dan as his BoSox continue to build their AL East lead. The Curse is reversed!
