Jeter, Lights and Lost

Did you catch Jeter's game last night for the Yanks? Outstanding. Five for five and amazing fielding at shortstop. Say it with me, M-V-P! M-V-P! M-V-P!

By the way, as good as Jeter is in October, did you know that the hated A-Rod who is often said to choke come playoff time has better playoff stats than Jeter? It's true. Check it out: A-Rod - .305 BA/.393 OBP/.534 Slg and Jeter - .307/.379/.463. Wow, huh?

Did you experience the pilot of Friday Night Lights on NBC? I wasn't that interested in spite of it taking place in west Texas where I grew up but after reading an enthusiastic thumbs-up review in the New York Times of all places, I decided to watch it. It was stinkin' great! Much better, I thought, than Studio 60. If you missed it, there is an encore presentation of the pilot on NBC tonight at 8 PM eastern time.

Are you a Lost fanatic? If so, what do you expect this season? What's going to happen to Kate, Jack and Sawyer? Who are these creepy Others? What do they want? So many friggin' questions! Bring it on! And oh, by the way, who is your favorite character on Lost?

The problem is a-rod hasn't made those same numbers postseason since coming to NY. Those are all-time stats and he had some fantastic post-seasons with past clubs.

Yep, caught FNL last night. We enjoyed it. Though Kate and I both remarked about what a different high school experience the south has compared to here in the Northeast. It seemed alien at times.

Lost... love it. CAN. NOT. WAIT. Favorite character? Locke, hands down.

Jack.

I know it's cliche, but he is the imperfect guy who steps up to save people.

Him and Hurley.

Ecko, he is a stud. Drug Lord turned preacher? Doesnt get any better than that. And honestly who cares about A-Rod when Pujols is lighting up the scoreboard. After living in texas for a few years, watching friday night lights is a sad truth. No way should High school football be taken that seriously, so much unnecessary pressure on kids who dont know how to handle it yet. And it had a ridiculous ending.

Nice try, Joe. Let's see if the Player-of-the-Month for May can get it done this October. The Yankees lineup is so strong, from top to bottom, that he can bat sixth--and relax. He doesn't have to swing for the fences. Just "hit 'em where they ain't."

What a great post-season! Ira's Yanks. Laura's Cardinals. Your neighbor's Mets. The Dodgers. Tigers . . . It doesn't get any better.

Sawyer - he's so good at being the "bad boy". That smirk, those nicknames!

I also like Hurley - he cracks me up. And Locke, and Eko, and Jack and...

The show seems to revolve around Jack - most of the characters are connected to him. I think it might be all about him....but how?

SUCH a good tease for the new season!!! The Others have completely freaked me out!!!!

I'm hesitant to write any theories about Lost, but Eric and I have some ideas. This will be the first season of watching it as it airs - I'm already frustrated that I have to wait an entire week for the next episode. I loved the DVD's because you could watch as many in one sitting as you could stand. BTW, my favorite character is Locke. He is just cool, and his past is fascinating.

Kate, I hope Lost works for you as it did for me. We were watching the Season 1 DVD set just prior to Charlotte's birth.

If NY does manage to not choke another one away - that will be one ring for approximately $1.2 BILLION in salary King George has spent over the past six years. Only in America would we call that money well spent.

Sorry, but I'm one of the minority who doesn't follow Lost and therefore doesn't care about what happens to them. :-)

We just recently got cable and I've been OD'ing on TLC and HGTV. My husband has been OD'ing on the History Channel. We've both been OD'ing on Law and Order reruns.

Lost? What's that?

Joe,

Let's give props to the Tigers. They came to play, and they were great. Good pitching beats great hitting--or something like that--but Kenny Rogers?

A-Rod is gone. Sheffield is gone. Johnson is gone. Bernie is done. Even Torre may hit the road. What do you think?

This morning, I am grateful for the NL--and the NHL. Hey, the Rangers are 2-0 on the young season, and last night they won a shootout.

Well - I feel somewhat remorseful. My last post was really made with an under-lying acknowledgement the Yanks would probably win another ring. Did they ever not do that. And, Joe Torre may be blamed for this stunning collapse by being fired? George must be really miffed.

Hey, the Aggies won - maybe that offsets the loss?

Pretty disappointed in the season premiere of Lost. Not a whole lot of questions answered.

Fave character? Because I think their character has some real emotional depth? Eko. Because he's nice to look at? Sawyer. Because I think the actor actually has some acting skill? Sun.
