Ira is scheduled for surgery at 10 a.m. this morning. They will attempt to remove the patch on his abdomen and pull the skin together. According to the doctor, this is no small surgery as it carries high risk. When they pull that skin together they will have to make sure those newly placed parts - the stomach, spleen, intestines, etc - don't start creating more pressure on the lungs and hearts and cause Ira to crash. Even the physical movement of Ira from his present location to the operating room carries risks because they have to transport his nitric oxide tanks, his ventilator and his flolan. So the joke, "how many doctors does it take to move a baby?" is no joke. We watched them move him for his CDH repair and it's incredibly tense. Ugh.

To top it off, Ira had a hard day yesterday afternoon. They tried to go down again on his nitric oxide and he didn't respond well. It was a hard afternoon yesterday. I didn't want to leave last night.

Lord, you are bigger than we can imagine, and you ask us not to put you in a box and to pray and ask big prayers. Lord I ask that not by the hands of the doctors you heal Ira! I ask that in your name, that you provide a miracle. We believe you WILL do this in your time but we ask that you do it soon! We ask that that you will carry Ira through surgery today with no complications, and that when the patch is removed that he is healed! Lord, you are the Great Physician! Show us your power. Let little Ira's strengh shock the doctors so that they believe that it is nothing but a miracle of you!

Laura and Joe,
We continue in prayer for you and especially for Ira this morning. Peace to you this morning. You will not be alone.

"Have mercy on Ira, O God, have mercy on Ira, for in you, his soul takes refuge. We will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. We cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills his purpose for us. He sends from heaven and saves us. God sends His love and faithfulness...Be exalted O God above the heavens, let your glory be over all the earth" Psalm 57

Joe, Laura and Sophie,

My prayer is that God will touch baby Ira and keep him strong. God knows how earnestly we all are praying for a miracle. God promises when two or more are gathered in his name...God will prevail. May God hold all of you close and strengthen you every moment of the entire day.

Love, thoughts and continued prayers for you and your entire families.

Dear Joe and Laura,
We sang this on Sunday and I thought of you and prayed for you while singing it.
Jessica

Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
in thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;
thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend.
