Ira's surgery went well. It was pretty routine which is what you want to hear as a parent. There was question of whether Ira would have the surgery or not because of his hard day yesterday but he was pretty stable throughout the night and this morning. They finally got to him around 1:15 PM. It took about two hours. Ira is sleeping pretty hard from the sedation.

You might remember my May 7 reference to Noah Whaley. His Uncle Steve is a good friend of mine who came from Houston to be here for Ira's birth and first few days. Steve went home in time to witness the birth of his nephew in Houston. It was discovered quickly that Noah had problems. Through the blog world we connected with Ethan and Julie, Noah's parents, and shared our NICU experiences. Steve called us tonight to let us know that Noah passed away today, May 11. Keep the Whaley and Eller families in your prayers.

So glad to hear the surgery went well!! Just want you to know that in Southeast Texas prayer continues for precious, precious Ira and the family. Praying especially this evening for Joe and Laura's fatigue--praying for a very restful night and refreshment. We have fallen in love with Ira and his family. Thanks for continuing to allow us to be part of Ira's prayer circle which would seem to reach around the world. dm Beaumont Tx

Way to go Ira! We are so proud of you - you are a strong little man! Joe, Laura and Sophia - we're still here and praying every single day! We love you! I have been keeping up with Noah's blog since you mentioned him last week and when I read that he passed away, have been sitting here in tears for his parents - I hurt for them so badly. We are so blessed because that could have been us one year ago. The similarities are haunting: they didn't know anything was wrong with him until he was born, both weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz. and both in the NICU for 8 days. I now have a newfound joy in my little boy - what a blessing children are!

True to your namesake, you've got a serious fighting spirit, little Ira! God be with you and those parents and family of yours. :) Noah's passing must be incredibly hard for his family and those that love him, but at the same time we are thankful that he is at peace in God's embrace.
