MVP! MVP! MVP!

Say what you want about A-Rod's performance in the playoffs (and I'm sure you will in the comments) but if it weren't for his magnificent play in the regular season we wouldn't have even made the playoffs. And that's why he won the AL MVP today. Congrats, A-Rod, on a well deserved MVP award! (He does read this blog, doesn't he?)

Ortiz deserved it more, even if I hate the concept of the DH just for its very existence.

Big Papi did more for his team to keep them in race (even when most of the rest of the team was doing their best to get an early rest) than A-Rod did.

A-Rod wasn't even the MVP of his own team. Rivera was.

Ortiz didn't keep the BoSox from getting swept in their playoff series...

Good job A-Rod!

Congrats Joe and A-Rod! I thought about you immediately when Alex won it. He deserved it, but how about Joe Torres' lame comments? His "Alex continues to improve" statement was a bit under-whelming to say the least. How about... A-Rod deserves the MVP - and what a team player by moving to third when I asked him to!

Thank you Kenny for the reminder. Now if there were an award for the fattest MVP, then Ortiz would win by his double chin. Congrats Joe. Though I loathe the Yankees and the rest of the American League. I really see it as a two player race between A-Road and Puljos for best player of all time (if they remain healthy).

I have lost interest in sports...

of course, my favorite teams are the University of Tennessee football, the SF Giants, the SF 49ers, and the Golden State Warriors (maybe the only one that makes the postseason this year!).

Just curious... where you a Yankee fan before moving up North? And has Laura held on to the beloved Cardinals...

I have nothing against sports conversion experiences. Stanford was my favorite college team growing up. Tennessee easily replaced it. Just wanted to know more about your sports journey.

oh, this is weird... the word verification to comment is: steiNBRenneRSUckS

Once again, I'll explain my love for the Yankees.

It began as a young boy. My father became a Yankees fan when he and mom lived in NY. They saw Mickey Mantle and crew play. Dad has never liked anyone else. I, wanting to be like my dad, followed in his footsteps. I watched Henderson, Winfield and Donny Baseball of the '80s. I'm legit. A Texas boy rooting for the Yanks. I think God called me to NYC to be closer to my Yankees. Hallelujah!

When you say "we made the playoffs" who are you talking about in the "we"? I did not know you played baseball.

Couple things:

You can be a Yankees fan and not love Steinbrenner. You have to respect the man, the legacy he has built, and his desire to see his team win without always appreciating the steps he takes in business.

When your devotion to a team is so pure that you feel as if you are at bat with them, running the bases with them and making the double-play you refer to the wins and losses as a collective effort. "We played our hearts out against them"

Very true, Kenny. For instance, "I was so happy when we became the first team in history to when 4in a row after being down 3-0, especially against the Yankees."

Good example Phil. Kind of like "I'm so impressed that my team has the kind of owner to get them 26 world championships." How many does Boston have again?
