Got a call today around 10:30 a.m.
Joe, I'm in the abulance...
The phone cuts out. It was Ira's nurse. I was at work. Laura was out with Sophia. I gather things up and head to the local car service. I say, "I need a car." "Sure," the guy replies, "Where do you need to go?" "I don't know."
I don't have the energy to tell the rest of the story but as I type, Ira is safe in his crib in the living room, Sophia's asleep and Laura and I aren't too far behind.
I thank God my son is alive this evening.

Thanking God with you.
Last night I talked to Ira and he talked to me. Laura set the phone where he could hear my voice. I said silly Grandmother things like, "Whatcha' doing?" and "Are you playing with Jersey?" More than once Ira "answered me" with an audible, "Aah!" Upon ending that precious conversation with, "Blow Gram a kiss. I love you," I hung up and called Ira's great-grandmother to tell her about this marvelous boy who continually brings joy into our lives.
So to hear this aft. that you were in an ambulance, Joe, with Ira heading from the Brooklyn hospital to the Manhattan hospital was terrifying, even though your sister assured me that everything was alright. Once again, I called Ira's great-grandmother and numerous other people and asked for prayers for this sweet boy.
And how good to hear this evening that he is very tired but back in the home that nurtures him and cares for him so diligently. Joe, you and Laura (and even Sophia) amaze me with your sweet care for this precious child. May God give you a good night's rest.
Thank you, God, for the blessings of this day. And happy birthday, Son. Thirty-three years ago God gave you to Dad and me. And I thank God daily for the blessing of having had you in our lives ever since. I love you.
Love,
Mom/Gram/Glo
Gotta' go...I have prayers for Ira (and for his family) to say.

Joe, happy birthday!!! So sorry that you had to spend it in the way that you did. So happy that Ira is home and well.
Today's your birthday? Happy day to you, Joe! Glad the little man is okay and safe at home again.
Happy birthday, Joe. While it sounds like your day didn't start off so great, you have much to be thankful for.
A special prayer of thanksgiving already has been offered...
