As She Sees It
My mom and dad got Sophia her very own digital camera for Christmas. Since then, she prances around the house snapping photos while declaring, I'm a catographer! The photo quality isn't great, Sophia's got much to learn about being still while taking a picture and her fingers often end up in the corner of her pictures but it's those qualities that make her perspective her own. Check out a few of her shots:

What a great gift - to see the world as Sophia sees it through her own lens!
This is how it begins. Two years ago we got our daughter, 13 at the time, her first camcorder. Mustek 5400. Small, cheap, but satisfied her desire to capture special moments with her friends. That was only good for so long. The quality was grainy at times, poor low-light capability, choppy zoom, lacked ability to download to our Mac. She had to get her brother to use his Dell. As you can imagine, brothers are never "timely" with doing favors. So, this year she asked for a better camcorder. She didn't get what she asked for. She got something better, because Santa knows how to internet shop! She and her Canon ZR700 have moved beyond fun moments with friends and into making movies of plays that she writes.
So, this little camera is only the beginning. Better start saving for the upgrade now! Can you see her on the big stage in her sparkling, swishy gown, saying: "I want to thank my grandparents for giving me my first camcorder, my parents and my brother, Ira, for their support and being objects of the camera's eye, and I give all the glory to God for this gift..."
Makes you smile, doesn't it?
love them...
Time to fire up the "catographer's" Flickr account!
