Any doubt?
It's official. ESPN confirms what we Texans have always known: the state of Texas dominates the football landscape. Check it out here. People from California, Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio brag all the time about their football but they live under a cloud of delusion. How can one beat these stats? Texas has:
10 Division I football teams (TEN!)
6 Heisman winners
6 national titles
3 AFL titles
5 Super Bowl wins
24 NFL Hall of Famers
And to my Alabama friends who will want to make a case for their state based upon the high school football program who has its own reality TV show on MTV, spare me. That kind of logic will lead you to believe that Flavor Flav is the best rapper in the world, Nick Lachy and Jessica Simpson were the best married couple in the world, and Donald Trump the best boss in the world.
Let's hear it for Texas football! Did I mention the Aggies play tonight in the Holiday Bowl against California? WHOOP!

Not to mention "Friday Night Lights."
Joe,
Maybe you should have saved your "WHOOP" for a team that actually won its bowl game--the Texas Bowl, at that. The big story around the northeast is: Rutgers 37, Kansas St. 10. Isn't this a great story?
Here's what is hilarious to me. I remember about a year ago, Schiano was getting ripped on WFAN for a lop-sided loss (to Louisville, I think, something like 55-10). While Mike and the Mad Dog were cracking up at the lowly Rutgers program, there was Schiano, hanging in there on the phone, promising that the Scarlet Knights were really not that bad and asking fans to just hang in there. What will his critics be saying this morning?
well when fathers beat their kids when they fumble the ball...
Poor AGGIES!
Good timing for this post, esp since NBC is running a segment tonight on HS football from my birthplace and favorite country town, Pampa TX. Go Harvesters!!
