silliness

I'm already hearing chatter as to how the Yankees will not make the playoffs this year. That's just silly. A-Rod is hitting homeruns at a break-neck pace, two of our starting aces have yet to pitch and we still have one of the hottest offenses in the league and we aren't going to make the playoffs? People, please. Don't you know that our man will do anything, buy anything in order to get there? Haven't you learned by now? Geez.

It's also silly to think A&M men's basketball will continue it's momentum now that Billy Clyde Gillespie (yes, his middle name is Clyde as well) is gone. Don't get me wrong, I'm hoping it does but BCG was a bachelor with nothing to do but live, eat and breathe basketball. The new guy we got will not have that kind of singular devotion. Sorry, fellow Aggies, but the BCGs of this world are few and far between.

And the last bit of silliness is that my friend, Jason, is promising to blog more often. He's got an interesting post over at his blog on pregnant women and their bellies. It's worth a look and a comment as Jason has some theories about how we should, as a society, proceed with regards to touching women's pregnant bellies. Go check it out.

Let's try this again: 10 years ago BCG got passed over for a 2A High School coaching job, now he's coaching Kentucky. It's time to change professions.

I predicted another Subway Series this year.

I think both NY teams will dominate their respective leagues in 2007.

But I think the Mets will overcome the Evil Empire in the World Series.

Joe,

You ought to think about coming to work with me. You do a good job of defending the least of these. It's way too early to get excited about MLB playoffs. There are still those early-season Player-of-the-Month awards to win.

Hey, just trying to lighten up a dreary day in NYC . . .

while I agree about Gillespie generally, I have too many friends here at work telling me that Turgeon is the real deal.

Andy Katz (I can't get the link from espn to work) had this to say (which echoes the sentiments I'm hearing generally):

"Mark Turgeon is a fantastic hire. He recruits Texas well and did it for Wichita State. Now, he should be right in there for A&M. He's coming into the program at maybe its highest point ever. A new practice facility is on the horizon next season. He has a dry, Midwestern, understated personality that will sell well in south Texas. He should lead the Aggies back to the dance next season."

My one question -- since when is B/CS south Texas?

Richie, here's hoping that your friends and Katz are right. I really want to be wrong about this!

Ah, Chris. Are you so quick to forget? So many times our Biblical heroes were also quick to forget and it enraged God. So shape up, Ewing, and remember that the Yankees always make the postseason. Always. Remember, lest you enrage God.
